Hi my name is Trudy I love to knit and also to draw, I have knitted since I was small, taught by my Nana when I was 5. I won many competition prizes when I was young for drawing and always won the Barclays Bank Christmas Card design competition EVERY year, a £2 credit to my account was my reward. I went on to study at Kent Institute of Art and Design and then to gain a degree in television and film graphic design at Humberside University. I now work full time at the BBC in Glasgow as broadcast designer working on shows such as the One Show, Take Me Out and Panorama.
I was born in East London, grew up mostly in Kent and now live in Hyndland, Glasgow with my boyfriend, our 10 year daughter and 3 fat cats Puffy, Szerman and Mini.
I set up my original Etsy shop when I was on my maternity leave inspired heavily by my Grandad, who collected anything and everything, I still have a huge tin of odd beads collected by him over many years from the streets of East London, he was a collator of anything interesting and hated anything to go to waste. My favourite toy when I was small was a rubber doll from the 1940’s called Pat, he had picked me up at a jumble sale. I have obviously inherited his treasure hunting gene and love scouring the land for anything interesting. I always wear vintage clothes and much prefer to repair, restore and repurpose, than buy new things.
At first I stocked my shop with a few cool vintage items I had discovered locally whilst out and about with my new baby. Recently I have started to introduce some of my extensive collection of vintage clothes, shoes and accessories, some of which I have had since I was a teenager.
I have another Etsy shop that sells vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery.
I am directly descended from the London Turner-Soane family which means that I am lucky enough to count the painter J.M. William Turner and architect Sir John Soane as my great grandads seven generations back, which may explain why I’m much better at drawing buildings than people!!.
I currently work from my studio in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow.
